Assam: IMD Issues Warning For Heavy Rain & Potential Flooding

 

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Assam, forecasting light to moderate rainfall across most areas, with heavy to very heavy downpours expected at isolated locations over the next three days. The adverse weather conditions are likely to impact various districts, raising concerns about potential flooding and disruptions.

DETAILED FORECAST

June 13:

•    Light to moderate rainfall is expected across most parts of the state.
•    Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts are on high alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
•    Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia districts may experience heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

June 14:

•    Continued light to moderate rainfall at most places.
•    Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Bongaigaon, and Tamulpur districts may witness heavy to very heavy rain.
•    South Salmara Mankachar, Goalpara, Bajali, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Cachar districts are likely to see heavy rain at isolated spots.

June 15:

•    Light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue in most areas.
•    Dhubri, Barpeta, and Bongaigaon districts could face heavy to very heavy rainfall.
•    South Salmara Mankachar, Goalpara, Barpeta, Bajali, Nalbari, Kamrup Rural, Kamrup (Metropolitan), Golaghat, Jorhat, and Majuli districts may receive heavy rain at isolated places.

June 16:

•    Light to moderate rainfall is expected to persist.
•    Baksa and Barpeta districts are under warning for heavy to very heavy rain.
•    Dhubri, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Bajali, Tamulpur, Nalbari, Kamrup (Rural), Morigaon, Nagaon, West Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, and Jorhat districts could experience heavy rainfall at isolated spots.
