GUWAHATI: Assam Police on Friday launched a massive crackdown in multiple locations in Barpeta district and seized illegal liquor.
Multiple operations were carried out across Barpeta district, which resulted in the confiscation of illicit liquor.
In Barpeta town, a team from the local police station seized 144 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) that were illicitly stored at a residence of Lakhyan Kakati at Jania.
The second operation was launched at Sarthebari, and about 1,000 liters of illicit liquor was destroyed.
Another operation was carried out at Sorbhog, which led to the seizure of 64 bottles of IMFL from a roadside dhaba situated alongside National Highway 37. In addition to that, 20 bottles of illegally stored IMFL were seized from Howly.
Operations were launched in multiple locations in Barpeta district to evade any untoward incident during the run up to the Durga Puja festival.
