Assam HSLC 2025 Results: Education Minister Expresses Concern Over Poor Showing By SC, Tea Garden Communities

 

GUWAHATI: Following the declaration of the HSLC 2025 results, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to X to highlight the disparity in performance among marginalised communities. “It is concerning that the pass percentage among Scheduled Castes (58.56%) and Tea Garden communities (51.89%)remains below the state average of 63.98% in HSLC 2025,” he posted, noting the urgent need for intervention.

He added that the Education Department would prioritise focused measures in the 2025–26 academic session to bridge the learning gap in these sectors and push for inclusive growth in education.

This year’s overall pass percentage dipped to 63.98%, down from 75.7% in 2024. Sivasagar emerged as the best-performing district with 85.55%, while Sribhumi recorded the lowest at 47.96%. A total of 2,70,471 students passed, with over 89,000 securing first division.

Out of 4,29,449 registered candidates, 4,22,737 appeared for the exams. There were 6,712 absentees, 101 cases of expulsion, and results were withheld for 22 students.
