GUWAHATI: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Hojai Anupam Choudhury along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Raktim Barua of the same district have been placed under suspension on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's order, say media reports. This came after the duo was caught on camera misbehaving with three citizens allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

According to reports, three men were beaten up by the ADC of Hojai District for taking a wrong turn while riding a motorcycle. The incident took place in the Lanka area on Wednesday night, September 28.

Speaking to the media, one of the victims Mithun Shil said, "I was going to a pharmacy riding a motorcycle. I took the wrong side, and the ADC of Hojai District came out of his car and started beating me. I agree that I should not have taken the wrong turn, it was my mistake. But he could have fined me instead of beating me with a log. He had no right to beat someone."

Speaking to G Plus, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Lanka Police Station said, "By the time we arrived at the scene, the accused had left. The three men were there, we took them to the medical for a test. They said they didn't recognise the two accused persons, but in the vehicle, it was written DC. After the medical test, the three were sent home."

According to the OC, the three haven't lodged any FIR till the last reports came in.
