Assam Govt To Relocate 10th Assam Police Battalion From Guwahati To Sonapur

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to relocate 10th Assam Police Battalion from Guwahati to Kachutali, Sonapur. Informing this in her budget speech on Monday, March 10, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog said the decision aims to protect tribal land from encroachment while paving the way for urban development in the state capital.

The relocation will serve as a safety net for tribal communities, ensuring their land rights are safeguarded in the designated tribal belt. Simultaneously, it will allow the government to develop a world-class central business district (CBD) in Guwahati, featuring modern infrastructure and commercial hubs.

Bedsides,  the government has announced the upgradation of Guwahati District Library, Kamrup (Metro) in line with recommendations from the High-Level Committee (HLC). This initiative aims to modernise the library’s infrastructure and enhance its resources to better serve the public.

In addition, the government has proposed the construction of a new multilingual Central Library, dedicated to Assamese and other indigenous communities of the state. This facility will serve as a hub for preserving and promoting indigenous literature, culture, and knowledge.
