GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government will bear the admission fees for college students whose parents earn an annual income of less than ₹2 lakh.

This initiative will see the Assam government allocate approximately ₹150 crore each year towards this cause. The funds will be directly credited to the respective colleges by July.
