Assam Braces For Very Heavy Rainfall; Red Alert Issued

 

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Assam on Friday, July 5 and orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state over the coming days. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati has predicted significant rainfall across various districts till Tuesday.

Detailed Rainfall Warnings for Assam:

Friday:

•    Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Baksa Districts: Expect heavy to very heavy rain ranging from 7-11 cm to 12-20 cm within 24 hours. Isolated places may experience extremely heavy rain exceeding 21 cm in 24 hours.
•    Barpeta, Bongaigaon, and Karbi Anglong Districts: Predicted to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall between 7-20 cm within 24 hours.

Saturday:

•    Golaghat, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat, and Majuli Districts: Anticipated heavy to very heavy rain ranging from 7-20 cm within 24 hours.

Sunday:

•    Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, and Karbi Anglong Districts: Forecast to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall between 7-20 cm within 24 hours.

Monday:

•    Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Bongaigaon Districts: Heavy to very heavy rain expected in isolated places, measuring between 7-20 cm in 24 hours.

Tuesday:

•    Dibrugarh and Tinsukia Districts: Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall predicted, ranging from 7-20 cm within 24 hours.
