GUWAHATI: The Health and Family Welfare Department of the Assam Government has been segregated into two departments. In a notification issued on Thursday, May 5, it has been mentioned that following the orders of the Governor of Assam, the Health and Family Welfare Department has now been separated into the Health and Family Welfare Department; and the Medical Education and Research Department.
The following Directorates/subjects will be under the administrative control of the new departments:
1. Health and Family Department:
i) Directorate of Health Services (DHS)
ii) Directorate of Health Services (Family Welfare)
iii) Directorate of Ayush
iv) National Health Mission (NHM)
v) Food Safety and Drugs Administration
vi) Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS)
vii)All Nursing Schools
2. Medical Education and Research Department:
i) Directorate of Medical Education
ii) All Medical Colleges & Hospitals, Dental Colleges, Nursing Colleges, Pharmacies and Para- Medical Institutes under the Directorate of Medical Education.
iii) Government of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Colleges.
iv) Assam Cancer Care Foundation.
v) Atal Amrit Abhijan (AAA) Society/ Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
vi) Assam Employees Health Scheme.
vii) Assam Health System Strengthening Project Society.
viii) Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS). ix) Any other institution relating to Medical Education and Research.
All correspondences relating to the existing Health and Family Welfare Department will now be made in the name of the new departments as per the allocations mentioned.
This notification comes into force with immediate effect.
