GUWAHATI: Assam government on August 10 said that Rs. 300 Crore has been sanctioned to promote the state as a global tourist destination.
The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal taking to the Twitter said, "We have sanctioned Rs. 300 crore to Assam Tourism in the Assam Budget 2019. To promote the state as a global tourist destination, for the 1st time we are exploring the possibility of hosting the @filmfare Awards in Guwahati".

It is to be mentioned that earlier in the month of July Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has informed in a tweet that actress and singer Priyanka Chopra is no longer with the Assam government as her contract has expired.
Priyanka Chopra was made the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism for two years, starting on December 19, 2016.
