Assam Govt Approves Voluntary Retirement Scheme For Agriculture Marketing Board

GUWAHATI: The Assam government revealed a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for employees of the Agriculture Marketing Board, following a State cabinet meeting that chaired on Wednesday, November 26.

This scheme, taken in lieu with a host of other decisions, will include the arrear salaries of the employees as part of the VRS package. The entire expenditure for the proposed initiative will be covered at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore.

Another key decision taken was the release of a revised holiday list for government employees for 2025, which has now been expanded to 36 public holidays, along with seven additional restricted holidays. Notably, the Ali-Ai-Ligang festival will now be observed as a public holiday in 11 districts.

Also, ₹223.26 crores was sanctioned for the third phase of the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme. This phase targets 78,046 beneficiaries with outstanding principal amounts between ₹25,000 and ₹50,000.
