Assam Govt Announces Rs 10 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Next of Kin of Constable Roben Das

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to be given to the next of kin of Roben Das, the police constable who died on duty.


"The CoM decided to give ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of @assampolice constable, Late Raben Das, who died while chasing cattle smugglers," posted chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Twitter. 


Assam police constable Roben Das passed away on October 18 while conducting a search for cattle smugglers at Char Kokurmora under Mankachar Police Station near the Indo-Bangladesh international border to nab cattle smugglers.


Roben Das was 25 years of age. 


Director General Police (DGP) of Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta personally conveyed his deepest and most sincere condolences and paid respect to the martyr by talking to the family members of the deceased. 


“Assam Police pays respect to the martyr and will take inspiration from the sacrifice made,” said officials.
