GUWAHATI: In a recent development, the Assam government has issued a series of orders related to the transfer and posting of senior police officers within the state. These orders, issued on September 14, will come into immediate effect.
Arabinda Kalita, an IPS officer who served as the Inspector General of Police, BI(E0), Assam, and concurrently as the Managing Director of the Assam Police Housing Corporation Limited (APHCL), is now posted as the Inspector General of Police, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Assam, Guwahati. This transfer takes effect immediately.
Lachit Barua, an IPS officer who held the position of Inspector General of Police (SB), Assam, has been transferred and posted as the Managing Director of the Assam Police Housing Corporation Limited (APHCL). This appointment takes effect from the date he assumes charge and follows the transfer of Kalita, who held the position previously.
Gautam Bora, an APS officer who held the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Border) within the Police Commissionerate in Guwahati, has been granted temporary additional responsibilities. He will now oversee the duties of Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Police Commissionerate, Guwahati, in addition to his existing role. This temporary arrangement has been made during the absence of Akshat Garg, IPS, who is attending the "Special Foundation Course for the Backlog Officers" from September 4 to December 15.
