Assam Government Plans To Expand SMCH With 2,000 Beds

GUWAHATI: The Assam government is taking every measure to expand the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) to 2,000 beds from 806 beds.

During his visit to the Silchar Cancer Centre, Assam Minister of Health and Family Welfare Keshab Mahanta informed this on April 30.

During his visit, Keshab Mahanta reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction of the Silchar Cancer Centre.

He urged the construction agency to complete the construction within the stipulated time.

Interacting with the media later, Mahanta informed them that the state government has also decided to construct a state-of-the-art super facility hospital at SMCH.

"The super facility hospital will benefit the people of Barak Valley," he said, as per reports.

Mahanta also reviewed the healthcare services in Cachar district and Silchar and discussed infrastructural development, OPD, IPD services, FRUs, civil hospitals, BSc Nursing Colleges, etc.
