GUWAHATI: In a bid to improve accountability and streamline attendance management in schools, the Department of School Education, Government of Assam, has mandated the use of the Shiksha Setu app for tracking the daily attendance of both teachers and students.
This directive will come into effect from April 1, 2024, which aims to ensure accurate and transparent attendance records across educational institutions in the state.

Talking to GPlus, Dipika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools said, "Daily attendance must be recorded using the Samagra Shiksha Application. We monitor attendance regularly and also manage leave records through the app."
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced last year that the Shiksha Setu App will have an offline functionality, allowing users to access it even without an internet connection. The app will utilise Google location services' built-in library on Android devices to determine the user's location.

This feature enables head teachers or principals to record attendance offline by capturing a photo along with the date, time, and location. The recorded information can then be uploaded to the app once internet connectivity is restored, ensuring seamless attendance tracking despite network constraints.
