GUWAHATI: In a recent official notification, the Governor of Assam has appointed new members to various Municipal Boards within the state of Assam.
The appointment comes as a significant development in the administration of these local bodies.
As members of the respective Municipal Boards, the appointed individuals will possess the right to attend and speak at all meetings.
However, it is important to note that they will not have the right to vote on matters discussed during these meetings.
Furthermore, the appointees shall not be deemed as Commissioners for the Assam Municipal Act, 1956.
Additionally, this appointment follows the cancellation of earlier notifications issued by the Government from time to time concerning the appointment of members under the aforementioned provision in the Assam Municipal Act, 1956.
