In a memorandum addressed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the union  also requested the state government to address the long-standing issues of land that has been plaguing the community in the state.

The union further emphasised the need for special provisions to accommodate students from the Gorkha community in institutions such as Assam Medical College, Ayurvedic College, and Veterinary College. The demand has stemmed from the necessity to ensure equitable access to higher education for Gorkha students.

Additionally, AAGSU has sought the appointment of Nepali language teachers in universities and other higher educational institutes. The organisation highlighted the importance of promoting the Nepali language in Assam’s academic curriculum to preserve the linguistic identity of the Gorkha community.

AAGSU’s leaders, along with representatives from the Gorkha Autonomous Council Demand Committee (GACDC), expressed hope that their demands would be considered by the government.
