Assam Floods Make It To Front Page Of The New York Times

 

GUWAHATI: With the flood situation worsening in Assam, it has now caught the attention of the international media. 

A picture of the ongoing flood in Assam made it to the front page of The New York Times. 

 

The heart breaking picture of a farmer collapsing in a paddy field destroyed by flood was captured by Atul Loke. However, the exact location of the picture is not known. 

"Hifjur Rehman, 40, a third-generation farmer, collapsed in a paddy field destroyed by floods in the Indian state of Assam. Mr. Rehman had been worried about how to repay a loan to the bank," read the caption on the front page. 

The picture was posted with a caption that reads, 'On Climate Change’s Front Lines, Hard Lives Grow Even Harder.'

As per the latest reports, Assam floods and landslides have claimed 62 lives this year, and nearly 31 lakh have been affected across the State.
