Assam: Five Arrested In Minor's Gang-Rape Case In Mazbat, Investigation Ordered

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called for a comprehensive investigation following the arrest of five individuals in connection with the alleged rape of a minor girl in Mazbat. The incident, which occurred on June 22, has prompted action from law enforcement authorities.

According to reports, the horrifying incident took place in Mazbat on Saturday, June 22, where a minor girl was allegedly raped by multiple boys. The Assam Police responded to the case, leading to the arrest of five suspects. Among those apprehended, the main accused sustained injuries during a police operation on June 24 while attempting to flee from custody.

Sarma said, "In connection with Mazbat PS Case No. 30/24, involving the rape of a minor girl by several boys on June 22, five miscreants have been arrested. The main accused was injured in police firing yesterday while attempting to escape custody. I have directed the @DGPAssamPolice to thoroughly investigate the matter under the supervision of a senior officer."

Responding to the chief minister's directive, Assam DGP GP Singh assured that an investigation is underway. He stated, "IG Range has been instructed to supervise under overall supervision of CID."
