Assam: Fake NGO Promising Jobs Busted In Hojai, Two Arrested

 

GUWAHATI: A fraudulent NGO accused of scamming youths by promising jobs was busted by the police in Hojai, Assam on Monday, September 23. Two individuals were apprehended during the raid.

The operation took place after the police got information about the suspicious activities of the NGO, which was operating out of Nilbagan village. The NGO had been collecting large sums of money from unsuspecting youths, promising them employment in return. The NGO had even organised an examination for these youths on the day of the raid.

The police dispatched a team to the scene while the exam was in progress. Upon arrival, the police apprehended two individuals involved with the NGO.

Talking to GPlus, a police official from the Hojai Police Station said, “We got the information about the suspicious activities of the NGO through the news and thereafter we proceeded to bust the NGO and caught the duo.”

Authorities also discovered a significant amount of cash in the possession of the two arrested suspects. An investigation into the scam has been launched to identify further connections and recover funds from the victims.
