Assam: Elephant Molar Teeth Seized In Tamulpur, One Apprehended

 

GUWAHATI: The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), 24th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Assam Forest Department conducted a joint operation on February 16 which led to the confiscation of elephant molar teeth from an individual in Tamulpur. 

The operation took place at Pubkachukata in Dhakiputha village in Tamulpur district of Assam on Friday.

During the operation, authorities seized a pair of Elephant Molar teeth from the possession of an individual identified as Rinku Kakati, aged 31, residing in Pubkachukata, Dhakiputha, in Tamulpur.

The illegal possession of Elephant Molar teeth is a serious offense under wildlife protection laws, and such operations aim to curb illicit activities threatening the biodiversity of the region.

The seized items will be used as evidence in legal proceedings against Rinku Kakati, who now faces charges related to the possession of protected wildlife products. The individual has been apprehended and further details await.
