Assam Elections 2021: AIUDF Announces 16 Candidates for First Phase of Polls

GUWAHATI: Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party on March 7 announced 16 names of candidates for the first phase of Assam elections scheduled to be held on March 27. 
 

The AIUDF which is a major part of  Congress' grand alliance has renominated seven of its 13 incumbent MLAs out of the total 16 for the first phase of Assam assembly polls this year.
 

The party has selected 11 candidates in alliance with its partners while five candidates will go for a "friendly contest".
 

As per the list, Aminul Islam is one of the seven renominated candidates who is all set to contest from Dhing, which is scheduled for polls in the first phase of Assam Elections 2021.


Other prominent candidates are Sirajuddin Ajmal, brother of party president Badruddin Ajmal, Nazrul Haque, Nizanur Rahman and Minakshi Rahman, who is the only woman candidate to contest in the upcoming Assembly election on behalf of AIUDF.
