GUWAHATI: Assam Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kusha Chandra Dewri, who was in charge of the Chief Minister’s security, has been removed from his position following serious allegations against him. According to the order, dated February 8, from Assam’s Home Department, Dewri has now been reassigned to the 26th Assam Police Battalion (APBn) in Chamrasali, Mankachar, South Salmara. In the order, the transfer was described as being in the "interest of public service."

The development comes after a woman lodged a complaint at Dispur Police Station, accusing Dewri of deception. She alleged that he engaged in a relationship with her under the pretext of marriage, only to later betray her trust.

Based on her claims, authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.

While officials have not disclosed further details, the case has raised concerns over misconduct within law enforcement ranks. The Assam government has yet to release an official statement regarding the allegations.

Meanwhile, the outcome of the investigation is expected to determine the next course of action against the senior officer.
