Assam: Dhemaji And Sivasagar Battling Rising Water Levels

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam floods remained in a precarious position as two districts, namely Dhemaji and Sivasagar, are currently affected by the rising water levels in the state, according to the Flood Reporting and Information Management System under the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

433 people have been affected by floods in Sivasagar while 205 people have been affected in Dhemaji. Nine villages remain affected in two revenue circles in these districts, with eight in Nazira itself.

135.7 hectares of crop area are currently underwater with Nazira again accounting for most of it. One relief camp is currently operational in the state of Sivasagar, which houses nine inmates.

An embankment has been reported to be breached in Lakhimpur. Moreover, infrastructure damage has also been seen in Lakhimpur as well as Kamrup (M). Additionally, erosion has been witnessed in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Nagaon and Tinsukia.
