GUWAHATI: Assam Director General of Police (DGP), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has tested positive for COVID-19. He has put himself under home isolation.

It should be mentioned that earlier, on August 6, the security guard of DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta had tested COVID positive.
As of August 8, a total of 2154 Assam police personnel had tested positive for COVID, out of which 1543 had recovered. However, 6 personnel succumbed due to infections from the virus.
