GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, unveiled a comprehensive set of projects aimed at enhancing the development of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Among the key projects announced by Chief Minister Sarma are the establishment of an integrated District Collector's (DC) Office in Tamulpur with an allocated budget of ₹25 crore, the construction of a ₹5 crore circuit house in Tamulpur, and the development of a ₹50 crore stadium in the Tamulpur district.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister confirmed that eligible women from the BTR region would soon be included in the beneficiary list of the Orunodoi scheme, which aims to provide financial assistance to deserving recipients.

Chief Minister Sarma made these announcements during the dedication ceremony of a newly constructed Reinforced Concrete Cement (RCC) bridge on the Barama-Dhamdhama-Tamulpur Road in Tamulpur district.

The foundation for this vital infrastructure project was laid on February 26, 2021. The bridge, spanning 193.480 meters, has been completed with a financial outlay of ₹29.57 crore under the State Owned Priority Development (SOPD) scheme.

This bridge serves as a crucial link between Tamulpur and Baksa district, providing an alternative route that was previously unavailable.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the new bridge would significantly boost connectivity within the BTR, making transportation between Tamulpur and Baksa more convenient and reducing travel times. Approximately 25,000 people living on either side of the river Pagladia are expected to directly benefit from this infrastructure enhancement.

In addition to this development, Chief Minister Sarma announced plans to convert the 26-kilometre stretch of road from Dhamdhama to Tamulpur into a double-lane road under the Asom Mala project, further improving transportation infrastructure within the region.

He also provided updates on the ongoing construction of the ₹600-crore Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital, which is expected to have a significant impact on healthcare and education in the BTR.

Sarma further announced that an allocation of ₹500 crore would soon be approved to enhance the region's road infrastructure.
