Assam Cricket Association Inducts Woman Player as Member in Apex Council

GUWAHATI: After recommendation from Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA), Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has inducted Runumi Borkataky as a member of its Apex Council on July 17. 

Notably, under the Supreme Court approved new constitution of Assam Cricket Association, there have to be 2 (two) player members, one male and one female, in the 9-member Apex Council of the Association.

Accordingly Runumi Borkataky has been recommended as a player member (female) by ICA to be inducted in the Apex Council of Assam Cricket Association.

Runumi Borkataky has represented Assam Women's Cricket Team in various age groups and senior tournaments from 1989 to 2010. 

Meanwhile, Naba Konwar is the other player member (male) already inducted in the Apex Council of Assam Cricket Association. 

Devajit Saikia, Secretary, Assam Cricket Association, opined that with the induction of a female cricketer of the stature of Runumi Borkataky in the Apex Council, it will help Assam Cricket Association take up some major initiatives for the development of Women's Cricket in the state of Assam in the near future.
