GUWAHATI: An Assam police official allegedly committed suicide in Dhemaji on Friday, August 30.
The deceased identified as Nipan Nath (28), who hailed from Madhupur of Rangia in Kamrup district, shot himself with his service pistol.
Nath joined Assam Police in the year 2017 and was posted at the Sissiborgaon Police Station as the Sub-Inspector (SI).

According to reports, following a night patrol, Nath reached his room at around 4 AM. Within a few minutes, his driver heard the sound of gunshots coming from his room. Upon reaching the room, the driver saw Nath drenched in a pool of blood.
The deceased was brought to Dhemaji Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead.
