GUWAHATI: The state of Chhattisgarh is facing extinction of female buffaloes and the government of the state has asked Assam to help with the problem.
Chhattisgarh earlier only had one female buffalo and 12 male buffaloes in the Udantika forest.

Since Assam currently has 3500 wild buffaloes, the state is planning to send 2-3 of these buffaloes to Chattisgarh.
The entire process of transferring the buffaloes is being conducted through the Wildlife Trust of India, which monitors the health and population of animals across India and tries to trans-locate various animals so that a healthy population remains all over India.
