GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has condemned the assault on the delivery person by Panbazar OC in Guwahati on November 15.

CM Sarma has strongly stated against the action saying that police power must not be misused today.
CM Sarma took to X to put out, “Assam police must transform into a force that serves and protects the people with dignity and respect, not one that uses unnecessary force against common citizens on the streets. Those days of unchecked power are long gone. Society will no longer tolerate the misuse of authority or violence against the very people the police are meant to safeguard. It is time for the police to embrace reform, accountability, and compassion—or step aside to make way for a force that truly upholds these values.”
On November 15, GPlus posted a video of the Panbazar OC assaulting a delivery agent in Fancy Bazar for breaking a signal. Soon the video went viral and DGP, Assam GP Singh tweeted saying that the personnel has been suspended.
"The Behaviour of Insp Bhargav Borbora OC Panbazar is unacceptable. He is being placed under suspension with immediate effect and a Departmental Enquiry has been ordered. CP Guwahati has been advised to post another officer immediately," the tweet by GP Singh read.
Police Commissioner, Diganta Barah said, "The officer has been immediately closed to Ordinary Reserve pending formal enquiry."
It was also found that the delivery agent is a student of Cotton University. Gyandeep Hazarika from Tezpur and has completed his economics course recently. He is yet to give few exams to complete the degree. He is from Tezpur and since two months works as a delivery agent to earn few extra bucks.
