Assam Clinch Col  C K Nayudu Trophy (Plate Group) Defeating Pondicherry By Two Wickets

 

GUWAHATI: Assam trounced Pondicherry by two wickets to win the Col C K Nayudu Trophy ( Plate Group) in the final at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday, November 26.

Pondicherry won the toss and opted to bat and scored 170/10 in 51.1 overs with Akash Pugazhanthi 55 in 49 balls, Neyan Kangayan 27 in 49 balls.

Assam responded scoring 186/10 in 73 overs, led by Jay Borah 72 in 195 balls, Rituraj Biswas 28 in 64 balls. Arshil Rajendra was a standout bowler for Pondicherry claiming 5 wickets for 42 runs.

In the second innings Pondicherry scored 248/10 in 83.2 overs with Nitin Pranaav V 73 in 127 balls, R Jashwanth Shreeram not out with 62 in 78 balls. Assam’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Dipjyoti Saikia, who delivered an exceptional performance, claiming 6 wickets for just 66 runs. 

Assam chased down the target with ease, scoring 235/8 in 79.2 overs with Rituraj Biswas 44 in 102 balls, Bishal Roy 37 in 61 balls, Ronit Akhter 27 in 42 balls. Dipjyoti Saikia (Assam) was named Player of the Match while Player of the Tournament was Nitin Pranaav V (Pondicherry).

The closing ceremony was graced by ACA Treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa along with other ACA officials, who congratulated the teams and encouraged them to continue their pursuit of excellence.
