GUWAHATI: Pradip Dutta Roy, leader of the Barak Democratic Front (BDF) today, on November 27, was interrogated by the Superintendent of Police (SP) Cachar in connection with a hoarding controversy in Barak valley.
The interrogation was related to a recent hoarding that was being put up in Assamese language in Meherpur at Barak valley, which stirred up a controversy in the valley.
Speaking to G Plus, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Cachar Ramandeep Kaur said, “Pradip Dutta Roy is under interrogation at the moment regarding the hoarding removal controversy. We have similar cases against him earlier also.”
On being asked if Roy would be arrested, the SP said, “Nothing can be said as of now. He is under interrogation.”
Notably, a Government hoarding in Assamese language was being put up in the valley on November 24. On November 25, Roy had set a deadline of 48 hours to the District administration for removal of the hoarding. The BDF leader has also threatened to take matters in his own hands if the administration fails to do so. Accordingly, on November 26, the hoarding was removed.
