Assam Budget Session Begins Today, Two Important Bills To Be Tabled

GUWAHATI: The Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly begins today February 5, and will run until February 28. 

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will address the assembly on the opening day, while Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is scheduled to present the state budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on February 12. 

Stringent security measures are in place at the assembly premises in anticipation of the session. As per reports, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the introduction of the Assam Polygamy Ban Bill, and several bills, including the Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024, which will be presented during this session.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to table "The Assam Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024" and Jayanta Mallabaruah, Assam Tourism Minister will be tabling "Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024."
