GUWAHATI: Keeping in view the plight of lawyers due to non-resumption of physical courts and due to the closure of Bar Libraries of the subordinate courts, the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim organised a sit-in-demonstration on August 13.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, normal court proceedings have been affected including physical hearings and regular functioning of the court. The body also mentioned the plight of lawyers due to the closure of bar libraries and prolonged unfinished work.
The protest was planned by the Chairperson of Bar Council, Advocate Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Chaudhuri in a meeting held on Monday.

The hour-long demonstration was held in front of the court premises by maintaining physical distancing and following COVID protocols.
