GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet on Sunday, October 27, appointed Jayanta Talukdar as Deputy Superintendent of Police.

This appointment comes as part of the Integrated Sports Policy of Assam, which rewards athletes with government jobs in recognition of their accomplishments.
Talukdar is a celebrated archer from Assam who has won many laurels for the nation including bronze medals at Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
His appointment under the Home & Political Department of the Government of Assam is under the provisions of Para 12.1 (i) (a) of the Integrated Sports Policy of Assam, 2017-2018, as amended.
