Assam Approves Restructuring Of PWRD Divisions Following ECI's Delimitation Order

GUWAHATI: In a bid to align with the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the delimitation of Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) in Assam, the Assam cabinet has given its nod to a comprehensive rearrangement, reorganisation, and renaming of existing Divisions and Subdivisions within the Public Works Roads Department (PWRD).

This strategic decision, ratified on September 8, excludes the 6th Schedule Districts and aims to enhance the administrative and technical management of the state's road network and associated projects.

While the specific names of the Divisions and Subdivisions subject to changes will be formally notified by the PWRD following the approval of the Chief Minister, a noteworthy element of this reorganisation is the attachment of one Division and five Subdivisions to the office of the Chief Engineer, PWRD.

The decision will bid to facilitate a more streamlined and efficient approach to the management of Assam's vital road network and infrastructure projects, contributing to improved connectivity across the state.
