Scrutiny had been delayed on Monday due to document issues with two independent candidates.

“Of the 14 candidates who filed nominations, documents of 11 were accepted, while three were rejected,” stated the release.

Bye-elections will be held in Dholai (SC), Sidli (ST), Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri after these seats were vacated when representatives won recent Lok Sabha elections. A total of 38 candidates submitted nominations for the seats by the Friday deadline. Nine candidates filed in Dholai, three in Sidli, eight in Bongaigaon, four in Behali, and 14 in Samaguri. All 24 nominations for the other four constituencies were accepted on Monday. Candidates have until October 30 to withdraw their nominations, with voting scheduled for November 13 and counting on November 23.
