GUWAHATI: For the new term of 2023–2025, Dr Surya Kanta Hazarika has been chosen as the Asam Sahitya Sabha's president. On December 24, in the afternoon, the results of the vote counting were announced in the Nalbari District Library.
He received 335 votes. He prevailed by 84 votes.
Similarly, the presidential candidate Yese Darje Thongsi gets 251 votes, Jagdish Patgiri 37, Nahendra Padun 58, Prahlad Tasa 50, And Roman Sharma gets just one vote.
Similarly, Dr Upendrajit Sharma was elected to the post of General Secretary with 315 votes. He defeated his nearest contested by 186 votes. Yadav Chandra Sharma the candidate for this post gets 88, Anup Borthakur gets 82, Devjit Bora 129 and Ramanandan Bora got 110 votes.
On the other hand, Girish Handique was elected Vice President. He got 284 votes. Girish Handique won by a margin of 151 votes. Other candidates Basanta Sharma got 58 votes, Similarly, Dhiren Sharma got 133 votes, Pabitra Barbora 46, Gobinda Talukdar 48, and Ganesh Chandra Nath got 30 votes.
