GUWAHATI: In a recent Special Task Force (STF) operation in Gauripur, Kamrup district, two individuals were apprehended, and 1.8 kilograms of heroin with an estimated value of ₹15 crore were seized. The operation, led by Addl STF Kalyan Pathak under the supervision of Partha Mahanta, DIG, STF, unfolded based on intelligence received in the early hours on Tuesday.
The source information indicated that a pickup truck would be transporting narcotics from Manipur. The vehicle was intercepted at Saraighat, but the occupants, upon sensing the police presence, fled towards Changsari.
To subdue the suspects, two rounds were fired. The vehicle, upon inspection, revealed the presence of a hidden chamber containing 1.8 kilogram of heroin.
The arrested individuals are identified as Sonu Ali from Garigaon and Arjun Basfore from Jalukbari.
