GUWAHATI: A bag containing armaments and ammunition was recovered from New Bongaigaon Junction Railway Station in the Bramhaputra Express train travelling from Delhi to Kamakhya, on May 24.
On the basis of the tip provided by Gajraj Intelligence, a search was carried out post which the arms along with the ammunition were found by the respective authorities.
As per official reports, during the search, a bag containing two country-made pistols known popularly as Katta along with 10 rounds (8mm) of live ammunition was recovered from the sleeper compartment of the train.
An FIR has been filed by GRP New Bongaigaon under relevant sections of the IPC after the recovery of the aforementioned items.
Further investigations are underway on the matter.
