GUWAHATI: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) expressed the hope of exploring alternatives and future collaboration on geothermal energy, wind and solar energy with Japanese companies.
During an interaction session at Udyog Bhawan in Guwahati, Kurihara (Toshi) Toshihiko, Chief Representative, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC); Tsuyoshi Honda, Director, Chief Regional Officer of Kolkata Branch of Mitsui & Co. India Pvt. Ltd. and Dr. Vinayak Kant Mishra, senior economist (JBIC) interacted with officers of Industries and Commerce, AIDC, AIIDC, APDCL, ASTEC and MSME-DI, The Economic Times reported.
JBIC is a monetary institution totally owned by the Government of Japan. JBIC promotes and invests in the joint ventures of Japanese companies having stakes in overseas business with foreign entities.
Mitsui & Co. is a Japanese conglomerate operating in over 63 countries. The firm operates in diverse segments with particular interest in energy, mineral and metal resources, machinery and infrastructure, and so on.
During the interaction, Kurihara (Toshi) Toshihiko acknowledged that JBIC has mobilised USD 7.8 billion for Indian operations for the monetary 12 months 2020-21. He deliberated on the Indo-Japan bilateral relationship and the best way JBIC has harmonised their lending with the Central Government insurance policies. He elaborated the help to India’s local weather actions on lowering the carbon footprint and creating renewable energy assets.
