GUWAHATI: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is carrying out a pilot project in the Six Mile area to replace aerial cables with underground ones.
Priyom Dutta, Public relations officer at APDCL told G Plus, “We are carrying it as a pilot project in Six Mile and if it becomes successful and things go well, we will cover other places too.”

She added that the work has already been initiated for the pilot project in Six Mile.
Authorities informed that the project has been undertaken largely to eliminate haphazard aerial cables.
As per reports, The APDCL has also installed 14,000 smart meters in Guwahati to ensure high efficiency and accuracy in billing.
