Speaking at a public event, Mahindra replied when asked about his work schedule, stating, "Ask me how's the quality of my work and not how many hours I work."

During the discussion, Mahindra further addressed critiques about his active presence on social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), where he has a following of over 11 million users. "Many people have told me that I waste time on social media. I am telling you, I am not on X because I am lonely," he quipped, adding, "My wife is wonderful; I love staring at her."

Mahindra highlighted that his presence on X is driven by strategic reasons, calling it "an amazing business tool." He explained, "On one platform, I get feedback from 11 million people," underscoring the value of instant communication and real-time feedback that social media offers to leaders in decision-making roles.

Mahindra's remarks come at a time when conversations about work-life balance and burnout are gaining momentum especially after L&T's SN Subrahmanyan's 90-hour workweek and Infosys' Narayan Murthy's 70-hour workweek statements.
