GUWAHATI: 'Waris Punjab De,' chief, Amritpal Singh's parents Tarsem Singh and Balwinder Kaur, visited him at the Dibrugarh Central Jail on Thursday. Accompanying them were Advocate Rohit Sharma and Advocate Rajdev Singh Khalsa, a former Punjab MP, media reports stated.
The pro-Khalistani preacher, Amritpal Singh, has been held in Dibrugarh jail since April 23.
Advocate Rohit Sharma informed the reporters that Amritpal Singh's parents were visiting him at Dibrugarh jail for the first time.
As per media reports, Sharma could not meet Amritpal Singh due to the lack of necessary court permission. Instead, he planned to meet Amritpal Singh's uncle, Harjit Singh.
There was reportedly no information about transferring the ten members of 'Waris Punjab De' from Dibrugarh Central Jail to another facility.
In addition to Amritpal Singh, nine of his close associates, including Papalpreet Singh, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Basant Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Harjit Singh (Amritpal Singh's uncle), Bhagwant Singh alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke, and Gurinder Singh Aujla, are also detained in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA), reports stated.
