Amit Shah’s CAA Number Plate Goes Viral

GUWAHATI: The number plate of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s car has been going viral all over the internet with pictures and videos being circulated of the same which shows that the number plate has the letters ‘CAA’ in it, as per media reports.

CAA is famously known as the Citizenship Amendment Act in India, which was passed by the Parliament of India on December 10, 2019. The Act received widespread criticism as it sought to give citizenship only to specific groups of religious minorities which included Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis or Christians from India’s neighboring countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, while notably leaving out the Muslims.

The passing of the Act also caused large-scale protests in various parts of India, including Assam, where the visit of the Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had to be cancelled due to security reasons as an internet ban was also imposed in Guwahati.

However, the Central Government had still decided to proceed with the implementation of the Act while disregarding the protests and several remarks had been made since then about when the Act would be finally implemented with Amit Shah stating in an interview last month that the Act would be notified and implemented before the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

As such, the unique number plate of the Home Minister - DL1CAA4421 - which was seen last night when he arrived at the BJP Headquarters in Delhi to participate in the party’s CEC meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, quickly caught the eye of social media users as it spread across the internet and elicited hilarious reactions from people, reports stated.
