Agarwood Seized At Guwahati Airport, One Held

GUWAHATI: The Custom Department seized around 8.5 kg of agarwood chips at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, Borjhar on September 17.

According to reports, chips were detected during routine screening of the luggage carried by one Ajay Sarawgi of Bharalumukh.

However, Sarawagi failed to produce valid transit permit and documents for transporting the chips. Later, his luggage was offloaded and the items were handed over to the Range Officer (Rani).

It is to be mentioned that under the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau’s rule, transit permit is mandatory for carrying forest products from one place to another.

In the meanwhile the accused was produced in the court of CJM and sent to jail custody.
