After Month Long Manhunt Amritpal Singh Arrested, Will Be Brought To Assam

 

GUWAHATI: Punjab Police on Sunday arrested radical preacher and Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh from Moga district, putting an end to a month-long manhunt. In a tweet, Punjab Police confirmed Amritpal Singh's arrest and urged residents to maintain "peace and order". 

"Amritpal Singh arrested in Moga, Punjab. Further details will be shared by Punjab Police Urge citizens to maintain peace and harmony, Don't share any fake news, always verify and share," Punjab Police tweeted.

Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh is now being shifted to Dibrugarh jail in Assam as per media reports. Earlier, eight members of the Waris Punjab De group, who were arrested, were transferred to the jail in Dibrugarh. 

Amritpal Singh, who has been on the run since March 18, has been charged under National Security Act (NSA) and has a non-bailable warrant against him. 

Amritpal Singh was arrested in Punjab's Moga district after he surrendered to the police.
