After Laapataa Ladies, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has been selected as the official entry of India for the 97th Academy Awards. The Film Federation of India reportedly confirmed the submission on September 24.

Actors Randeep Hooda and Ankita Lokhande along with producer Sandip Singh put up a joint post on social handle. The post read, "Honoured and humbled! Our film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has officially been submitted for the Oscars. Thank You FILM FEDERATION OF INDIA for this remarkable appreciation. This journey has been incredible and we are immensely grateful to all who have stood with us in this journey."
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is the directorial debut of actor Randeep Hooda, depicting the character of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The movie also features actors Ankita Lokhande, Mrinal Dutt, and Amit Sial. Based on the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the movie demonstrates Damodar's life from early 1900 till his death. It also portrays the 'Abhinav Bharat' movement of Savarkar along with his career for which he went to Britain for the study of law. His movements made him one of the most wanted by the British which is portrayed in the film.
