After Dr. Nagen Saikia, two more members exit Clause 6 implementation committee

GUWAHATI: Eminent literary figure and Former Sahtiya Sabha President Rongbong Terang and Educationalist Dr. Mukunda Rajbangshi, members of the Centre’s selected panel to implement Clause 6 of Assam Accord, chose to exit the committee following former Sahitya Sabha President Dr. Nagen Saikia.

They expressed that All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) was an important part of the Assam Accord. But since AASU has decided to go against the Bill and not be a part of the committee, it did not make any sense to talk about the Assam Accord’s implementation.  The committee did not have any representation from the AASU which was supposed to be a signatory to the Assam Accord.

Terang further added that his conscience barred him from being a part of the committee and that his decorating health conditions also played a vital role in his decision.
