GUWAHATI: A group consisting of the members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee arrived in Assam on Thursday in order to visit their loved ones being held at the Dibrugarh Central Jail. As per media reports, the group consisted of 10 people.
Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) also arrived with the 10-member team.
While speaking to the media, Sialka said, "We have arrived to meet the detainees and leave for Punjab after the family members of the detainees meet their respective kin. We will try to challenge whatever will be the board's order at the High Court.”
It may be mentioned that Punjab Police on April 23 arrested the radical preacher and Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh from Moga district of Punjab putting an end to a month-long manhunt.
In a tweet, the Punjab Police confirmed Amritpal Singh's arrest and urged residents to maintain "peace and order".
"Amritpal Singh was arrested in Moga, Punjab. Further details will be shared by Punjab Police Urge citizens to maintain peace and harmony, Don't share any fake news, always verify and share," Punjab Police tweeted.
