GUWAHATI: The All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Guwahati was presented with state-of-the-art medical facilities on Tuesday, October 29. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the new services.

Seen as a milestone in elevating healthcare standards and supporting advanced medical research, the new facilities include cutting-edge technology for critical health services.
Key medical infrastructure includes drone services for rapid medical supply delivery, a Radiotherapy Block equipped with a High-Energy Linear Accelerator, a 3T MRI scanner, and a Cath Lab for neurovascular and interventional radiology.
Modi emphasised the importance of these advancement in the context of India’s five health policy pillars: preventative care, early detection, affordable treatment, healthcare expansion into remote towns, and technology integration.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with Members of Parliament, government officials, and AIIMS Guwahati’s Executive Director Prof. Ashok Puranik, were present at the launch.
